Women in the MIlitary

1.7 million, or 9% of veterans, were women in 2018.


Today, over 210,000 women serve on Active Duty (AD) across the military services (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force), and another 5,955 serve in the Active Coast Guard, according to the Defense Manpower Data Center.


The military is now about 16.5 % women.

The numbers differ by branch with Navy and Air Force higher and Marines the lowest.


In 2021 1 in 10 veterans were women.

These numbers are going up year by year.

Women are being fiercely recruited.
